Zootopia 2 Quotes – The Best Lines from the Sequel
I have a confession. When Zootopia 2 was announced, I did a little happy dance. The first movie holds such a special place in my heart and if you’ve read my post on the top 12 inspirational quotes from the original Zootopia, you’ll know exactly why. I went into the sequel with high hopes and was really worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype. I’m happy to say, this movie delivered! It was full of fun, inspiration, excitement, adventure and kindness.
Do I dare say it? Was the sequel better than the original? You tell me!
Here are my favourite quotes from Zootopia 2, and why I think they matter.

My Top Quotes from Zootopia 2
1. “The world was never meant to be on one animal’s shoulders. That’s why my great-grandma wanted Zootopia to be for everyone – so we could all help each other.” – Gary De’Snake
This is the emotional centre of the whole film, and it stopped me in my tracks. Gary says this to Judy during one of the movie’s most touching scenes, and it’s such a beautifully simple idea: *we are not supposed to do this alone.* We build communities, partnerships, cities — because the load is lighter when it’s shared. I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
2. “I mean we’re not that different.” – Judy Hopps
Judy says this to Nick at the beginning of the movie and it sets the stage for the two of them finding out how different they really are. All throughout the movie they highlight the differences in their personality — while showcasing that they can still be the best of friends and partners despite those differences.
3. “Or… maybe we don’t have to prove anything to anybody.” – Nick Wilde
The scene is after Nick and Judy attend the “Partners in Crisis” meeting and they’re leaving while the other police officers taunt them.
Nick Wilde: Let me ask you something, do you think we’re a good team?
Judy Hopps: Of course. I just… I just wish I knew what we had to do to prove it to everyone else.
Nick Wilde: Or… maybe we don’t have to prove anything to anybody.
Such a great reminder that proving things to other people should never be a priority.

4. “Sir, I know you’re trying to look out for us, but we took an oath to protect this city and justice doesn’t run.” – Judy Hopps
A classic Judy line – she always wants to do the right thing no matter how hard it is. This scene is when Mr. Big is offering to help Judy and Nick get out of town because the Lynxleys are after them. And Judy’s response? “Justice doesn’t run.” I mean. Honestly.
5. “Sometimes being a hero, it just doesn’t make a difference.” – Nick Wilde
Nick and Judy have their first real ‘aha’ moment at the Honeymoon Lodge — that they are fundamentally different. Nick says the case isn’t worth dying for. Judy disagrees. Her need to do the right thing outweighs the danger they’re in.
Judy Hopps: We have to solve the case, Nick.
Nick Wilde: I don’t care about the case! Judy, it’s not worth dying for.
Judy Hopps: The world will never be a better place if no one is brave enough to do the right thing.
Nick Wilde: The world is what it is, Carrots. And sometimes being a hero, it just doesn’t make a difference.
Judy Hopps: I think, uh… I think maybe… maybe we are different.
This one surprised me because it’s so un-Disney on the surface. Sometimes you do everything right and it still doesn’t work out – and letting the doubt exist first? That’s just great writing.
6. “We shall succeed, Judy Hopps. We’ll stop the lynxes and save your partner.” – Gary De’Snake
Gary quickly became a favourite of mine with his positive attitude and determination. Telling Judy “we shall succeed” multiple times during the movie illustrated how powerful positive reassurance can be. In a movie full of complicated characters, Gary is a beacon of calm certainty – and we all need a Gary in our corner.
7. “So he committed a murder, his own maid, and framed Gary’s great-grandmother. And because she was a snake, everyone believed his lie.” – Pawbert
It’s so easy to believe a lie about a snake, just because they ARE a snake. A classic “don’t judge a book by its cover” – and so cleverly woven into the story. The whole film builds to this truth, and this line lands like a gut punch!

8. “I don’t wanna be different.” – Pawbert
When they’re in the control room and Pawbert stabs Judy with venom, Judy says to him: “Pawbert, please. You can be different than your family.” And he replies: “I don’t wanna be different.”
While it’s a horrible moment, it’s a great and realistic lesson. Not everyone wants to do the right thing. Not everyone is capable of growth. And sometimes acknowledging that is its own kind of wisdom.
9. “But maybe, if we just talked to each other, if we just tried to understand one another, we would see that our differences don’t really make any difference at all. Maybe we’d even see that what makes me me, and you you, can make us even stronger.” – Nick Wilde
At the end of the movie, Nick gives this little speech in the Partners in Crisis room. The setting is fitting, given that’s the room where he and Judy started, trying to figure out how to work together. It’s a full-circle moment, and it’s beautifully said. Classic Nick – pretending he doesn’t care about anything, right up until he does.
10. “Love you, partner. But I am still me, so I’m only saying it once a decade.” – Nick Wilde
Nick is self-aware, and pokes a little fun at himself with this one. After everything they go through together, he manages to deliver the most heartfelt line in the most Nick Wilde way possible. I love him for it.
Honourable Mention: The Scene That Got Me
I didn’t give this its own numbered spot, but I have to include this exchange. It is everything.
Nick Wilde: Okay. I don’t care that we’re different. You know? What I care about… is you. I care about you. Okay? And I didn’t say it. I should’ve said it, but I didn’t, because… well, ’cause I am an emotionally insecure source of your discomfort, who’s not good at expressing his feelings. Probably because I’ve been on my own my whole life. It’s not an excuse; it’s just… it’s why instead of telling you that you’re the best thing that ever happened to me… I make jokes about your ears and I tell you that you try too hard, when the truth is, I just don’t want you to get hurt because… because no one else in the world matters more to me than you do.
Judy Hopps: I… I do try too hard because deep down I’m afraid that I am what everyone thinks I am, and I suppress my discomfort because I’m worried it makes me look weak and I wanna be strong, and I think I’m failing all the time and I only take what you say personally because you’re the only one in my life who ever believed in me, even when I don’t even believe in myself! And I should have told you that. No one else in the world matters to me more than you do, either!
C’mon, just a ‘feel good’ moment in the movie!
Why Zootopia 2 Is So Fabulous
What I love about both of the Zootopia movies is that they mirror the real world in such a fun and entertaining way. The themes are real – prejudice, bullying, self-growth, corruption, power – and they’re wrapped in a genuinely funny, moving story about a bunny and a fox who are figuring out how to trust themselves and each other.
It’s emotional, full of laughs, easter eggs and lessons. If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to. And then come back and tell me your favourite quote!
