Halloween is historically a big celebration at the Disney parks, and it looks like 2021 will continue the tradition!
Previous years saw the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party that offered fun trick or treating, costumed characters and some fantastically themed fireworks. We discussed our thoughts about the Halloween Party on podcast episode 28.
This year Disney has announced a new celebration for 2021 – The “Disney After Hours BOO Bash”.
The BOO Bash will take place on select nights from August 10 through October 31st from 9pm to midnight with a some dates in August being 9:30pm to 12:30am). Admission to the event will allow you access to the Magic Kingdom as early as 7pm.
Disney has shared that this special ticketed event will feature:
- Halloween-themed cavalcades
- Candy stops, with plenty of sweet surprises
- Character sightings throughout the park
- Special performances by the Cadaver Dans
- Attractions, including favorites like Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain
- Themed food and beverages available for purchase
- Special décor, lighting, music and more!
Disney is sharing that the “BOO BASH offers low wait times at some of your favorite attractions at Magic Kingdom park” which is reminicent of the old “After Hours” events they had. I attended a couple of them and I loved them, I thought the extra price was worth the low wait times and less crowds.
For the BOO Bash, it’s important to remember and follow the costume guidelines. While everyone is encouraged to dress for the event, only guests younger than 14 are permitted to wear costume masks. Always check for the most up to date information on what is permitted on the official Disney site and check back periodically as things can change.
Tickets for the event will go on sale some time in June with an early purchase window for those guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels. There are benefits to staying onsite!
Celebrations and Halloween fun continues this fall with “Muppets Haunted Mansion” Halloween special on Disney+
“The brand-new special will feature a star-studded Muppets cast, celebrity cameos, all-new music and spooky fun for families to enjoy together.”
